How To Watch Tokyo Ghoul Series? Easy Watch Order Guide

How To Watch Tokyo Ghoul Series || Easy Watch Order Guide

Watching Tokyo Ghoul in order isn't straightforward.

If you're after a gory, exciting anime to get stuck into, Tokyo Ghoul is the perfect choice. An adaptation of Sui Ishida's serialized manga, Tokyo Ghoul follows student Ken Kaneki as he deals with his transformation after he's attacked by a Ghoul (flesh-eating monsters that inhabit Earth in secrecy).

However, with a number of prequels and live-action spins offs, it can be tricky to work out how to watch Tokyo Ghoul in order – be that chronologically from a story standpoint, by release date, or the order which is most entertaining.

Plus, in some countries Tokyo Ghoul is available on Netflix, while in others (notably the US) it's carried by other streaming services. But, even if you've only got Netflix, there's an easy way to watch Tokyo Ghoul in order wherever you are that we'll explain below.

Tokyo Ghoul is an anime that could force you to take a break from the series and watch a more light-hearted show.

The gruesome imagery of flesh-devouring ghouls, the constant feeling uncertainty and despair along with the loud screams of the victims, would make you feel sick if you’re not used to gore.

Many manga readers argue that Tokyo Ghoul did a lousy job at delivering the complete story.

They are kind of right about it since the anime cuts off a lot of important, however, if you watch the anime for what it is without comparing it to the manga, then you just might enjoy it.

If you’re into dark drama and action, do give it a watch! (Before reading the manga).

1. Release Order

I. TV Series

              WATCH “TOKYO GHOUL” ON NETFLIX

III. Chronological Order

  • Tokyo Ghoul: "Jack"
  • Tokyo Ghoul: "Pinto"
  • Tokyo Ghoul
  • Tokyo Ghoul √A
  • Tokyo Ghoul: re
  • Tokyo Ghoul: re 2nd Season

2. Conclusion

The recommended order for watching Tokyo Ghoul is its release order. Watch the OVAs after completing Tokyo Ghoul √A and before beginning Tokyo Ghoul: re.

Following the chronological order is not recommended, especially if you’re a first-time viewer because you need to know the characters and their personalities before watching a story about their past.

3. Where to Start Tokyo Ghoul Manga From ?

It is a well-known fact that the anime adaptation of Tokyo ghoul did not stand up to the expectations of manga readers. Even though season 1 was the most faithful to the manga, it missed out too many details, did not do justice to many characters, and made the series similar to a battle type anime.

It is generally recommended that you should read the manga right from its beginning. The characters are more fleshed out, there is an emphasis on non-battle elements along with the battle parts.

However, if you absolutely do not want to read the manga from the beginning, start from chapter 46.

Yes, season 1 does cover chapters 1-60, but it leaves out so many parts that if you skip those chapters, you won’t understand plenty of events that take place later on in the manga.
